PGA Catalunya Resort, the latest world-class facility to become a European Tour Destination and host venue of The European Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage, has been named the Best European Golf Development at the recent International Property Awards in London.

A high-calibre jury of international experts identified PGA Catalunya Resort as the European Winner for the Golf Development category and cited it as the best example of a golf and real estate development in Europe due to its world-class offering of stunning design, continued investment in its innovative infrastructure and superb location.

In July of this year, the Resort was announced as the eighth European Tour Destination, joining a portfolio of world class venues which already comprised London Golf Club in England; Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort in Provence and its sister venue Golf Club St. Leon-Rot near Frankfurt, Germany; Le Golf National in Paris, where The 2018 Ryder Cup will be played; The Dutch in Holland; Diamond Country Club in Austria; and Golf & Country Club Fleesensee, near Berlin in Germany.

Located an hour’s drive from the vibrant city of Barcelona and only 20 minutes from the Michelin-starred restaurants of Girona, PGA Catalunya Resort has long enjoyed a close and multi-faceted relationship with The European Tour, including hosting the Spanish Open on two occasions and The European Tour Qualifying School Final since 2008. The venue, which was already part of the European Tour Courses portfolio prior, now benefits from the additional kudos and global recognition which comes with becoming a Destination.

Significant investments have been made in recent years, resulting in two spectacular layouts, the Stadium Course and the Tour Course – the former was voted the best course in Spain for 2012 and 2013 by – and superb practice facilities, including a 2,000 square-metre putting green and chipping area with bunkers emulating course conditions from around the world.

Now far more than a golf resort, PGA Catalunya Resort is a prestigious development designed for owners to enjoy a Mediterranean lifestyle in an exceptional setting, situated in the beautiful Costa Brava.

Complementing the two world-class golf courses, the 300-hectare estate of forested woodland at PGA Catalunya Resort will eventually have a total of 368 properties combining striking design, each with open-plan layouts and innovative use of glass that brings the outside in without compromising on privacy. Championing both award winning and up-and-coming national and international architects with a cutting edge design concept that makes the most of the resort’s surroundings, the spacious Villas, Semi-Detached Villas, and Apartments epitomise contemporary living and luxury lifestyle. Expansive villa plots are also available for purchase.

PGA Catalunya Resort also offers a Golf Clubhouse, a Membership Clubhouse with private lounge, restaurant, and an exceptional new Residents Club for owners complete with indoor and outdoor swimming pool & children’s pool, indoor spa pool, tennis courts, fitness centre and treatment rooms.

Commenting on this most recent award, Julio Delgado, CEO of PGA Catalunya Resort, said: “Our latest international recognitions – not least of which, PGA Catalunya Resort’s nomination as the eighth European Tour Destination – underline our commitment to providing our residents, golfers and guests with world-class facilities and the highest levels of service and hospitality, which embodies our offering here at PGA Catalunya Resort. “
