Bernhard Langer came up short in his bid to win the Charles Schwab Cup on the US Champions Tour, but the Major Champion did win the Money List for the fifth time in his career.

Langer needed to win the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship to have any chance of overhauling American Kenny Perry at the top of the standings, but his runner-up finish behind Fred Couples in San Francisco meant he had to settle for second place overall.

However, thanks chiefly to his two victories and five runner-up finishes, Langer did top the Money List with season’s earnings of US$ 2,448,428, giving him the edge by some US$207,240 over Perry.

It was the fifth time the German had won the Champions Tour’s Money List, having previously achieved the feat in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
