Three was very much the magic number for Charl Schwartzel as he completed a hat-trick of wins at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, and europeantour.com took a look inside his bag to see exactly how he did it.
Having let a maiden South African Open Championship hosted by the City of Ekuhuleni title slip from his grasp just seven days beforehand, the 2011 Masters Tournament Champion proved his class once again with exemplary Genworth Financial Statistics en route to the title at Leopard Creek CC.
The South African’s accuracy into, around, and on the greens were the key to his four shot triumph over Richard Finch thanks to top five finishes in Greens in Regulation, Putts per GIR and Putts per Round.
Schwartzel hit four of every five greens across 72 holes to rank fourth in the field, while his putting was also exemplary, averaging 1.666 per GIR to also rank fourth and 28 putts per round to rank one place higher.
When he missed the green he was also on top form, getting up and down every time from sand, and not carding a bogey for the final 62 holes of the tournament.
Couple that with a Driving Accuracy of 66 per cent to rank 18th for the week, and an impressive Driving Distance of 306 yards to finish fourth in the field in length from the tee, and it is no surprise that the now nine time European Tour winner won in such fine style.
