A total of 44 European Tour winners, including six-time champions Simon Dyson, Niclas Fasth and Thomas Levet, will next week head to La Reserva de Sotogrande for the dual-ranking NH Collection Open.

Several of the 44 have tasted success on Spanish soil, such as Niclas Fasth (2006 Open de España and Mallorca Classic), Peter Lawrie (2008 Open de España), Thomas Levet (2008 Open de Andalucía and 2009 Open de España); Michael Jonzon (2009 Castelló Masters) and Lee Slattery (2011 Madrid Masters).

The in-form contenders include home favourite Alejandro Cañizares, who recently captured his second European Tour title in the Trophée Hasan II, and England’s David Horsey, who posted three top ten finishes in his last three appearances: joint third the Africa Open, tied tenth at the Joburg Open and joint eighth at the Trophée Hasan II.

Tom Lewis finished in a tie for eighth place alongside his compatriot in Morocco, and the 2011 Portugal Masters champion is hoping to keep his form going in Sotogrande.

He said: “I love going to Spain, there are lots of really good golf courses in that area. I played at La Reserva as an amateur, and I love the course, it suits me. If I continue to play like I did in Morocco, hopefully I won’t be too far away.”

The list of European Tour winners present at La Reserva de Sotogrande also includes Felipe Aguilar, Rhys Davies, Johan Edfords, Richard Finch, Alastair Forsyth, Mark Foster, Tano Goya, Mathias Grönberg, Anders Hansen, Gregory Havret, Jeppe Huldhal, Scott Jamieson, Simon Khan, Maarten Lafeber, Shane Lowry, Mikael Lundberg, James Morrison, John Parry, Richie Ramsay, Ricardo Santos, Patrik Sjöland, Graeme Storm, Simon Thornton and Anthony Wall.
