Took up golf when he grew tired of hunting for his father’s golf balls in the woods. Dad, Christer, Mum, Eva, and sister Malin, all play golf. Spent four years at University of Alabama. Highlight was winning 1993 Ben Hogan Trophy, awarded to best student golfer in USA (best combined stroke average and grade average). Letter from Hogan is framed and stands on his desk at home in Kalmar. Gained card from the Qualifying School in 1997 and ‘98, and from the Challenge Tour in ‘96, when he finished 14th and 2001 in 15th position. His maiden victory came in the 2001 Hardelot Challenge de France, a victory which enabled the tall Swede to win a wager that he would win before his 30th birthday. He succeeded by three weeks. Joint second in the Open de Madrid at the end of 2003 represented his highest finish on The European Tour International Schedule but his joint fifth in the 2005 BMW Championship – The European Tour’s flagship event – is undoubtedly his most impressive showing to date.
