Oliver Wilson

Capped a superb 2008 with a Ryder Cup debut to remember in Valhalla, coming back from four down to defeat Anthony Kim and Phil Mickelson 2 and 1 in the second day foursomes when playing with Henrik Stenson. Came close to his European Tour breakthrough several times, finishing runner up four times in 2008 including in a play-off with Miguel Angel Jiménez at the BMW PGA Championship. Improved his Order of Merit position from 97th in his Rookie Year in 2005, to 71st in 2006, 30th in 2007 to 11th in 2008. Had finished second on seven occasions in his European Tour career as at the end of the 2008 season and added the HSBC Champions (where he lost a play-off to Sergio Garcia) and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2009. Made his debut in the winning Great Britain and Ireland Seve Trophy team in 2007 where he won twice in the company of fellow Englishman Simon Dyson. Repeated that feat in the 2009 Vivendi Trophy with Seve Ballesteros. A member of the victorious Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team in 2003 before he turned professional later that year. Qualified for The European Tour through the 2004 Challenge Tour Rankings. On a charitable front, he has pledged his support to Dare UK, the British arm of a worldwide anti-drugs educational programme, and he is also a Youth Ambassador for the Golf Foundation.
