Became the first left-hander since 1975 to win on The European Tour by landing the 1997 Dubai Desert Classic in a play-off with Ian Woosnam and Greg Norman and it was another ten years before he won his second title, capturing the 2007 BA-CA Golf Open, presented by Telekom Austria, again via a play-off, this time defeating Jean-Francois Remesy.
