As another thrilling Ryder Cup year gains momentum, today sees the fourth instalment in a series of 20 quick-fire questions in which José María Olazábal and Davis Love III will reveal some clues as to the men behind the masks.

With little more than two months now remaining until show time in Chicago and The 2012 Ryder Cup, the race to make the European Team, under the stewardship of Captain José María Olazábal, is continuing apace.

European Captain Olazábal will face up to his opposite number, his great friend, long-time competitor and 2012 Team USA Captain Davis Love III, on Friday September 28, 2012, knowing that for three days an enduring friendship must be put aside as their respective Teams battle it out for the right to hoist the illustrious Samuel Ryder Trophy come Sunday evening.

And as The European Tour this week journeys to Scotland for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, with The Open Championship set to take centre stage at Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s next week, we are set for a thrilling few months in the lead up to Medinah, Illinois come autumn time. Rory McIlroy currently heads the European Points List with 2,620,352 points in a team that currently comprises – as it stands – seven of the team that triumphed so dramatically at The Celtic Manor Resort in The 2010 Ryder Cup.

As well as McIlroy, there are six more veterans of the 2010 campaign currently in the automatic qualification spots, as Graeme McDowell – who holed the winning putt on the 17th green at Celtic Manor – Martin Kaymer, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Peter Hanson and Francesco Molinari hold automatic places at present.

Justin Rose, who played in The 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla, is currently riding high in second place on the European Points List, followed closely behind by rejuvenated Scot Paul Lawrie. Five-time Ryder Cup star Sergio Garcia has had a welcome return to form over the last nine months and as it stands the Spaniard would be the fourth man to qualify through the World Points List.

Today sees the fourth instalment in a series of “Questions with The 2012 Ryder Cup Captains” in which the two leaders that will marshal the aforementioned troops are fielding 20 quick-fire questions to divulge their similarities and differences and reveal some clues as to the men behind the masks.
