Europe’s Junior Ryder Cup players have been in action in preparation for the contest against the USA at Olympica Fields later this month.

As the youngsters seek revenge for the 13½-10½ defeat at The Gleneagles Hotel in 2010, they have been fine tuning their games in some of Europe’s premier amateur competitions.

Swede Linnea Ström won the Annika Invitational at the Linköping Golf Club on Sunday, a competition founded by one of the most successful players in the history of the women’s game, Annika Sorenstam.

Ström opened with a 74 but made huge strides in round two with a 68 and held on for victory with a final round 73 in torrential rain.

The boys were also in action, with all six from the European Junior Ryder Cup team competing in the Jacques Leglise Trophy at Portmarnock Golf Club in Dublin, Ireland.

Dominic Foos, Renato Paratore, Matthias Schwab and Victor Tarnstrom were on the victorious Continental European team, beating a Great Britain and Ireland team which included their Junior Ryder Cup team-mates Toby Tree and Gavin Moynihan.

Continental Europe was captained by Gary Stangl, who led the European Junior Ryder Cup team in 2008 and 2010.
