Venue:

Interlachen Country Club, Edina, Minnesota

Date:
26 – 27 September, 2016

Eligibility
The European team will feature six boys and six girls who are European citizens and are under the age of 18 as of 1 January in the year of the match. Participants must be amateurs.

Counting Events

The Captain, Maïtena Alsuguren, The European Golf Association (EGA) and Ryder Cup Europe have together selected the Counting Events based on an analysis of all EGA Calendar Events and their World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event rating. The events have been chosen to form the basis of the selection process for the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup (JRC). The top five EGA junior events and top five EGA amateur events will be used to identify three girls and  three  boys  to  represent  Europe.  The  other  six  spots  (three  boys  and  three  girls)  will  be  Captain’s  picks.  For  the  picks, the Captain will look at players’ performance in the Counting Events as well as EGA European Amateur Rankings position and performance in other significant match play and stroke play events.

Qualification Points Distribution
Players will earn points according to their performance in the Counting Events
. Because of the JRC’s match play format, it is deemed important, when
awarding points, to not only value the overall finishing position, but to also give emphasis to match play performance.

Points received for each of the two European Major Events will be doubled.
Major Events
:   The Amateur Championship, Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship,
(Points x 2)
International European Amateur Championship (IEAC) and International European Ladies’ Amateur Championship (IELAC)

Notes:
-
For ties, points will be shared.
-
For match play events with stroke play qualifier, stroke play and match play points will be added together.
European Team Championships and Stroke Play Events For all European Team Championships, which are Counting Events, players will be awarded points for their ranking after stroke play according to the “Stroke Play Only” table shown below. They will receive bonus points for their singles match
play results, which will be added to their stroke play points.

Additional Comments
This point-based system will result in a different weighting of the chosen events. Category 1 are the European Major Events  (The  Amateur  Championship,  IEAC,  Ladies’  British  Open  Amateur  Championship,   IELAC),  Category  2,  the  European Team Championships, Category 3, the match play events and Category 4 are the stroke play only events.
