Edward Kitson and Les Montgomery unveil Highland Spring as official water supplier of The 2014 Ryder Cup ()

Highland Spring, the UK’s No 1 bottled water brand, has signed an exclusive official supplier agreement with Ryder Cup Europe to be the official water supplier to The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

The deal ensures that the bottled water supplied to The 2014 Ryder Cup for both on and off the course will adhere to organisers’ commitment to delivering the most sustainable event possible. Highland Spring water is bottled straight from a protected underground source in the Ochil Hills, Perthshire, just five miles from The Gleneagles Hotel, where The 2014 Ryder Cup will be held.

With over 250,000 spectators expected on site during the event, and a further daily TV audience of 500 million people across 183 countries, The Ryder Cup has evolved into one of sport’s most valuable and prestigious global brands, making it the perfect partner for the UK’s leading bottled water company.

Les Montgomery, Chief Executive of Highland Spring Group, the UK’s largest producer of bottled water, said: “We are proud to be involved with the biggest golf event in the world. The Ryder Cup is bringing world class sport to Scotland, the home of golf, and it is right on our doorstep. Supporting sports like golf has been a long-term part of our strategy to promote the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle and the tournament is a perfect platform to inspire Brits to get more involved in sport.”

Highland Spring has a long standing relationship with golf at all levels of the game including being Official Water Supplier to a number of European Tour Group Events.

The business is also a major supporter of UK sport and a long-term sponsor of many national and international events across five core sports: golf, tennis, cycling, rugby and athletics.

Richard Hills, Europe’s Ryder Cup Director, said: “Both our ongoing procurement process and our official supplier programme is designed to strike a balance between finding businesses with the right expertise and experience, and those who can ensure the event is sustainable. Highland Spring is a great match and we are delighted to have them on board as an Official Supplier.”

To celebrate its involvement with The 2014 Ryder Cup, Highland Spring is launching a UK-wide on-pack promotion inviting consumers to be part of the action. On shelf in September, prizes include a five star weekend at the tournament as well as tickets and luxury UK breaks.
