Junior Ryder cup European team Captain Stuart Wilson and Blairgowrie Provost Liz Grant unveil the new road signs for Blairgowrie and Rattray (EuropeanTour)

Blairgowrie and Rattray this week saw smart new signs erected on their access roads welcoming the Junior Ryder Cup, which will take place at Blairgowrie Golf Club from September 22-23.

The Junior Ryder Cup is set to take place on the Monday and Tuesday prior to The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, providing a unique opportunity to focus attention on Eastern Perthshire.

The junior event is set to be more popular than ever, with 4,500 young people getting the chance to watch the under 18s play.

The Junior Ryder Cup is expected to also attract a large number of spectators looking to see the golfing stars of the future - internationally-renowned players such as Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Suzann Pettersen are former Junior Ryder Cup competitors.

Provost Liz Grant said: "I'm delighted to be unveiling the first of these new signs, which celebrate the pride Blairgowrie and Rattray take in hosting the vibrant junior event. As well as bringing visitors to the area, the Junior Ryder Cup is a successful partnership with Club Golf, allowing thousands of young people a unique insight into the game."

The 'Blairgowrie and Rattray welcome The 2014 Junior Ryder Cup' signs are part of Take Part, Take Pride, Take Place, building a legacy of involved communities.
