SeniorTourOrderMerit

Topped the 2011 Senior Tour Order of Merit following a superbly consistent year in which he won twice and finished in the top ten 13 times in 18 appearances. Claimed his maiden Senior Tour title in the ISPS Handa Senior Masters presented by The Stapleford Forum – his first victory in 18 years. Did not take long to make it two victories, coming from seven shots back in the final round of the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open the following month. Held off the challenge off Barry Lane in the season-ending MCB Tour Championship to become the third Australian to win the John Jacobs Trophy, following in the footsteps of Noel Ratcliffe and Ian Stanley. Had initially struggled upon joining the Senior Tour after suffering a career-threatening back injury in practice before his Senior Tour debut in Jersey in 2009. Played just four times that year but worked tirelessly to recover and finished 29th on the Order of Merit in 2010. Had made his debut on The European Tour also in Jersey 26 years previously. Winner of the Australian Open in 1983 and then a runner-up on The European Tour no fewer than six times between 1984 and 1992 before finally making his winning breakthrough in capturing the 1993 BMW International Open in Munich. Individual and Team winner of the World Cup in 1989 when partnering Wayne Grady for Australia. But after his success in 1993 he struggled to find the same form and went back to the Qualifying School – Final Stage four times, successfully graduating in 1999 and 2001 to regain his European Tour card. Began to show some of his old form in 2002, finishing 63rd on the Order of Merit. Improved on that performance in 2003, finishing 45th, helped by three top ten finishes in his first six starts. Lost his card at the end of 2006 but bounced back via the 2007 Challenge Tour Rankings, taking the 18th card.More
