Biography

Has enjoyed a prosperous 14 year stint on the Senior Tour as a latecomer to the professional ranks, finishing outside the top 40 on the Order of Merit only twice – in 2010 and 2011. Has won six titles - the last of which came at the start of 2005, when he captured the DGM Barbados Open. Was a career amateur before turning professional in 1997, in order to try his hand on the European Senior Tour. His best season was in 2000 when he finished third in the Order of Merit after winning the first and second of his titles. Claimed the 1985 Irish Amateur Closed Championship and the Irish Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 1990, and was quick to find his feet in the paid ranks after winning his card at the 1997 Qualifying School. Represented Ireland on numerous occasions as an amateur, and served for a short time as a selector. Worked in banking, before opting to turn professional at the age of 50.
