Biography

A share of fifth place in the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters presented by The Stapleford Forum was the highlight of his 2011 as he maintained his run of finished inside the top 40 on the Order of Merit in each of his five full seasons on the Senior Tour. Was runner up to runaway winner Boonchu Ruangkit in Thailand in 2010 then ended the campaign with three consecutive top 20 finishes to claim 36th spot on the Order of Merit. Enjoyed his best season on the Senior Tour in 2008 with four top ten finishes including a share of second place behind Sam Torrance in the season ending OKI Castellón Open España – Senior Tour Championship. That helped him move up to 14th in the Order of Merit. Secured a two year exemption in 2006 courtesy of his victory in that season’s Scandinavian Senior Open. In triumphing at Denmark’s Helsingor Golf Club, Tomori followed in the footsteps of Seiji Ebihara, Noboru Sugai and Dragon Taki to become the fourth Japanese winner on the European Senior Tour. Ten years previously, he was the first Japanese professional to enter The European Tour Qualifying School when he graduated in 1996. His best result on Tour was a runner-up finish to Thomas Björn in the 1999 Sarazen World Open, played at PGA Golf de Catalunya. Defeated Open Champion Paul Lawrie in dramatic fashion in the 1999 Alfred Dunhill Cup at St Andrews, making a birdie three on the first extra hole after Lawrie had holed out for an eagle two at the 18th.
