Secured a conditional card on his second attempt at Qualifying School to seal a return to Tour life after a break of more than 21 years, despite suffering a back injury before the final round. Is hoping that 2010 will be a big year for him on the Senior Tour with his home club The Celtic Manor Resort also set to host The Ryder Cup. Played in The 1984 Open Championship at St Andrews – one of 45 appearances on The European Tour between 1984 and 1988. Decided to give up competitive golf and concentrate on his family-run Newtown Motors business in Cwmbran. His dedication to the Welsh cause was in evidence at the garage with one Morgan sporting the patriotic numberplate TAF1E. Went to Orlando to play on the Mini-Tours ahead of the season opening event in Mauritius and reconstructed his swing. Former Welsh Boys teammate of Ian Woosnam, whom he joins on the Senior Tour. Woosnam stayed at his house when he won the Silk Cut Masters at St Pierre in 1983 and the pair have kept in touch over the years.
