Biography

One of the European Seniors Tour’s most jovial characters, Higgins won once on The European Tour, at the 1977 Kerrygold International, held over his home course at Waterville. Since joining the Seniors Tour, he has won three times, once in the 1994 Joe Powell Memorial Seniors Classic and twice at the Zurich Senior Pro-Am: Lexus Trophy, in 1994 and 1995. Recorded one top ten in 2004 – in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open – but was unable to match that in 2005. Also won four Hardys Wines Super Seniors first prizes in 2003 and one in 2004. His son, David, returned to The European Tour in 2006 after winning his card at Qualifying School but then lost it again.
