Recorded three top ten finishes in 2011, which came in succession at the start of the campaign. In 2010 the big-hitting South African enjoyed his best season since 2007, finishing 23rd on the Order of Merit with two second place finishes, first in the Berenberg Bank Masters, in his homeland, then the Matrix Jersey Classic. It was in Jersey that he captured his only Senior Tour victory to date, closing with a fine five under par round of 67 to win the 2007 title at La Moye Golf Club, with a two shot victory over Scotland’s Bill Longmuir. The following week, he was back in the headlines after registering a hole in one at the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open. That triumph helped him to 17th place on the Order of Merit. Played full time on The European Tour in 1976, 1979 and 1980, and enjoyed considerable success in his native South Africa, where he has won 15 official titles on the Sunshine Tour. Has a reputation for designing unusual putters including one based on a barrel of a gun, which reflects his love of hunting.
