Provided ample evidence of his ability to handle major championship pressure by finishing tied third in the 1995 Open Championship. The two-time All-American at the University of Texas was introduced to golf at the age of eight by his grandfather. He is host to an annual golf tournament - the Hal Brooks Memorial in memory of his father - which benefits Brooks House and provides counselling for teenagers. Broke through on US Tour with victory in Greater Hartford Open then won twice in 1991 for 11th place in official money list. That remained his best season until 1996 when he soared to third place.
