Finished runner up in both the Benahavis Senior Masters and the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open and third in the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters in 2012, ending the season just outside the top ten on the Order of Merit. Also finished runner up in the Benahavis Senior Masters in 2011, having captured his second Senior Tour title in Spain two years previously, when he defeated former Ryder Cup team mate Eamonn Darcy in a play-off to win the inaugural Son Gual Mallorca Senior Open after a superb final round 66. His first Senior Tour victory came in the 2005 European Senior Masters at Woburn, where he beat fellow Ryder Cup player and Captain Sam Torrance in a thrilling play-off. A year earlier, he beat another former Ryder Cup team mate, José Maria Cañizares, by a shot at the Ford Senior Players Championship. A winner of 18 titles on The European Tour over a professional career spanning 25 years, he finished in the top five in The Open Championship on four occasions and was Captain of the European Ryder Cup Team at Brookline in 1999. Was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2000, but underwent chemotherapy and surgery before making his golfing comeback in the PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in May 2001. Also works as a commentator for the BBC.
