Tommy Horton made one of his characteristic late charges with five birdies over the final six holes for a one shot victory in the Monte Carlo Invitational at the scenic Mont Agel course.
He closed with a one under par 68 for a winning level par 207, then watched as Americans Bill Brask and David Oakley stumbled at the last hole when bidding to force a play-off.
It was Horton's second win of the season and rockets him back on top of the European Seniors Tour Money List which he has dominated for the past three years.
He said "I am absolutely delighted. It was tough for the first nine holes with so much going on in the pro-am. But I got the putter going at the 13th with a birdie and it set me going". He made birdie putts at four more holes for his score.
This was the European Seniors Tour's first taste of pro-celebrity golf. Hollywood actor Kevin Costner, who topped an international cast of movie and sports stars, co-hosted the event with Crown Prince Albert of Monaco. The star of "Tin Cup" playing from a 14 handicap demonstrated his golfing ability by winning the the pro-am event with an 18 under par three round score.
