Senior Tour rookie, American Jerry Bruner, followed his opening 67 with a course record equalling 66 for an eleven under par total of 133, to take the lead by one shot from England's Mike Slater at the Ordina Legends in Golf at Prise d'Eau.
Bruner, one of the most consistent performers on Tour, has been a runner-up three times, while Slater has claimed three course records within the past five weeks. England's Jim Rhodes is two shots further back in third place, and all three will be seeking their first Tour title.
Slater added a 68 to his opening record 66 and stands poised to make his challenge for a first victory on the European Seniors Tour. The powerful 15-stone professional from Warrington slotted a six foot putt for a birdie three on the final green to move to ten under par.
Slater, known as "Big Red" to his club members, was level with Bruner at 11 under with four to play. But he stumbled with a bogey six at the 15th where he three-putted and a one-over five at the next after overshooting the green.
He said: "That closing birdie was useful. My game is holding up well and I feel pretty confident about tomorrow." Slater will be partnered in the final match by Bruner and Staffordshire professional Jim Rhodes who has put together two neat 68's to be eight under.2nd Round Scores
