Australian Geoff Parslow extracted six birdies over an eight-hole stretch on the way to a four under par 68 and one-shot first round lead in the Greek Seniors Open in Athens.
He is just ahead of a posse of five on 69 including the Scottish twin-head of former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher and Glasgow club professional John McTear.
Also in the group are Grantham's Ian Richardson, Spain's former Ryder Cup player Antonio Garrido and American senior rookie Alan Tapie.
Parslow, a former Gold Coast club professional, relished the brilliant Greek morning sunshine as he birdied the tenth (his first), carded two par figures then took off with a blistering run of five straight sub-par scores.
The big Melbourn-born professional spoiled things slightly with a bogey five at the 18th to be out in a five under 31. Two more followed on his back nine. But a birdie three at the 16th steadied things for the run in.
Parslow, also led the opening round at the PGA Seniors after a 66 at the Belfry in August before fading down the field. He said: " Ijjust hope it lasts this time. I hit it very close today, only one of my birdie putts was outside ten feet."
