America's Alan Tapie returns to France, the scene of his maiden European Seniors Tour victory, when he tees up in this week's TotalFina Elf Seniors Open at the Marly course at Le Golf de Joyenval.
There he will face a strong field that includes Tommy Horton, leader of the European Seniors Tour Order of Merit for the last four seasons, 2000 Microlease Jersey Seniors Open winner Neil Coles and England's Brian Waites, winner of the inaugural TotalFina Elf Seniors Open at Pau GC in 1998.
Tapie, 51, from Dana Point, California, won last year's event, held at Golf de Chantaco, when he produced rounds of 64, 66 and 70 for a 10-under par aggregate of 200, three shots ahead of Scotland's John McTear and Ireland's Liam Higgins. Northern Ireland's Eddie Polland, America's Jerry Bruner and England's Neil Coles tied for fourth place, finishing on 204, six under par.
Coles, 65, heads into this year's TotalFina Elf Seniors event still on a high after winning the 45th title of his career at the Microlease Jersey Seniors Open at La Moye. It was the 14th victory of his Seniors Tour career and means that he has now won a professional event in each of the last six decades. Since then, he has also finished tied for second at the Lawrence Batley Seniors at Huddersfield GC and the seventeeth at the Coca-Cola Kaiser Karl European Trophy at Haus Kambach GC, Germany.First round tee-times
