Turf consists of traditional links grasses - fescues, meadow and marram species.

The fairways average 35 metres in width with very strategic bunkering offering risk and reward on taking the most direct lines from the tee.

Two cuts of rough will be established to approximately 7.5cm (light rough) amd 35cm (heavy rough).

Very fair greens in terms of size with no severe undulations. The greens will be running between 9 and 10 feet on the stimpmeter for the tournament.

Course Condition
The course was playing relatively long due to the heavy rainfall throughout the spring. However, more seasonal weather towards the end of May and early June has firmed the fairways to produce the run on the ball normally associated with links golf.

Course Layout
The front nine is played away from the shore, on generally flat land, before heading for the back nine which is set amongst the dunes. The course is extremely challenging but nonetheless fair. The inward nine holes, with a par of 33, is undoubtedly one of the toughest stretches anywhere in the world.

Course Location
The course is set under Harlech Castle, with superb views of Snowdon to the north.
