Seiji Ebihara, who topped the 2002 European Seniors Tour Order of Merit, showed his class on the other side of the Atlantic when he moved into a share of fourth place at the halfway stage of the US Senior PGA Championship.
The 54 year old Japanese golfer, who won three times in Europe last season, carded a best of the day second round 66 at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania for a two under par total of 138 to move alongside the 1992 US Open Champion Tom Kite, the duo two shots behind the joint leaders Allen Doyle and Gil Morgan.
European Seniors Tour interest was maintained further down the leaderboard as José Maria Cañizares shared seventh on 139 while Scotland’s John Chillas continued to impress on his debut in the event, sharing 14th place on 141 with five players including Ireland’s Des Smyth.
