Joy for James in US Senior PGA Championship
England’s Mark James completed an outstanding debut in the US Senior PGA Championship by finishing in a tie for fourth place at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky. The former Ryder Cup captain fired a final round two under par 69, which was the joint lowest round of the day, to finish six strokes behind winner Hale Irwin of the United States. Ireland's Mark McNulty, another European Seniors Tour member, finished joint seventh.
James Well Placed in US Senior PGA Championship
England’s Mark James made a solid start to the final round of the US Senior PGA Championship before poor weather once again stopped play on Sunday afternoon. The former Ryder Cup Captain, who completed his third round earlier in the day carding a two over par 73, is even par for the Championship through three holes and will return to the course at Valhalla Golf Club on Monday morning.
McNulty and James Contend in US Senior PGA Championship
European Seniors Tour members Mark McNulty from Ireland and Englishman Mark James continued to perform strongly in the US Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club. McNulty is five off the lead, which is being held by American Hale Irwin, while former Ryder Cup captain James is a stroke further back.
James Joins the Hunt in US Senior PGA Championship
England’s Mark James moved into contention in the weather hit US Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky. The Englishman, who is making his debut in the Championship, was able to play seven holes of his second round before darkness fell on Friday and is three under for the tournament, three off the lead.
Smyth in Familiar Territory at US Senior PGA Championship
Ireland’s Des Smyth picked up where he left off in the US Senior PGA Championship by challenging for honours in this year’s event at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky. Smyth, who led after three rounds last year before finishing joint fifth, reached two under after 17 holes before lightning stopped play on the opening day of the first Major of the season in the senior game. Heavy overnight rain has now delayed the start of play on the second day.
Strong European Seniors Tour contingent head for first Senior Major of 2004
England's Mark James and Sam Torrance of Scotland, the last two European Ryder Cup Captains, are among 17 European Seniors Tour Members who will tee up in the 65th Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky, this week for the first Senior Major of the season.
