Ratcliffe Surpasses Million Mark
While Brett Rumford triumphed in the south of Ireland at the weekend at the Nissan Irish Open, there was just cause for celebration for another Australian in the north of the country when Noel Rafcliffe became the second player to break the €1 million barrier in career earnings on the European Seniors Tour.
Oakley triumphs at Royal Portrush
Pete Oakley produced the biggest upset victory in the history of the Senior British Open Championship presented by MasterCard when he triumphed by one stroke at Royal Portrush Golf Club. The little known American held off an elite entourage of players that included American Tom Kite, Argentina’s Eduardo Romero and Englishman Mark James to become the first qualifier to take the coveted title in the 18-year history of the event.
Unheralded Oakley Leads Senior British Open Presented by MasterCard
American Pete Oakley upstaged an illustrious line up of stars to take the third round lead in the Senior British Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club. Oakley made it through the 18 hole qualifier on Tuesday to book his place in this week’s €1.47 million (£1 million) event and now finds himself in a fairytale position at the top of the leaderboard.
Marsh Makes Remarkable Hole in One Double
Australian Graham Marsh made history when he became the first player on either side of the Atlantic to make two holes in one on the same hole in a top flight tournament when he aced the par three 11th for the second time in three days in the Senior British Open Championship presented by MasterCard.
Mason, McNulty, Oakley and Pooley share the lead at Royal Portrush
Carl Mason continued his love affair with the tournament while Mark McNulty continued his love affair with his newly adopted Ireland, as both players, along with Americans Pete Oakley and Don Pooley, shared the lead at the halfway stage of The Senior British Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Romero Riding High in Senior British Open Championship Presented by MasterCard
Argentina’s Eduardo Romero made an immediate impact in his first tournament in the senior game when he took a share of the opening round lead in the Senior British Open Championship presented by MasterCard.
Just five days after turning 50 the Argentinean fired a three under par 69 over the Dunluce Course at Royal Portrush Golf Club.

Darcy Searching for First Win at Senior British Open Championship Presented by MasterCard
Ireland’s Eamonn Darcy is looking for his first win in the senior game and would dearly love to make his maiden triumph this week’s Senior British Open Championship presented by MasterCard in Northern Ireland. Darcy, part of a strong contingent of Irish players which includes Des Smyth, Christy O’Connor Jnr and Mark McNulty, is making his debut in the Championship.
