Dry and relatively firm. Wind is a major factor. Free draining site which is playable all year round. Classic links and one of the toughest in the British Isles.

Fairways: Fescue/bent plus areas of rye grass
Semi-Rough: As above but with wild flowers

Greens: 5 mm. Greens range in size from 350 metres square to 833 metres square. (avg: 555 m sq.) Most greens are undulating apart from 8 & 9.

Anything else
Since the deep rough is not cut, wild flowers including orchids are abundant. Spectacular views over ‘The Causeway Coast’. There is also a healthy population of birds including reed buntings, skylarks, stone chats, wheatern and some very cheeky crows liable to steal golf balls!
