Course
Dry and relatively firm. Wind is a major factor. Free draining site which is playable all year round. Classic links and one of the toughest in the British Isles.

Grasses
Greens: A mix of slender creeping red fescue, chewings fescue, brown top bent and poa.
Fairways: Fescue/bent plus areas of rye grass
Semi-Rough: As above but with wild flowers
Fairways
Vary between 30 & 40 yds wide. Very undulating with tight firm lies.
Fairways: 11 mm
Surrounds and Tees: 11 mm
Greens
Greens: 5 mm. Greens range in size from 350 metres square to 833 metres square. (avg: 555 m sq.) Most greens are undulating apart from 8 & 9.
Speed: 9.5 feet
Rough
Rough: Never cut Semi-rough: 40mm
Anything else
Since the deep rough is not cut, wild flowers including orchids are abundant. Spectacular views over ‘The Causeway Coast’. There is also a healthy population of birds including reed buntings, skylarks, stone chats, wheatern and some very cheeky crows liable to steal golf balls!
