The European Seniors Tour will head for the sacred surroundings of Mount Sinai and the Red Sea next month after confirming that the Jolie Ville Sharm El Sheikh Seniors Open will take place at the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from April 21-23, for a prize fund of US$255,000.
Located in the extreme southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel is a fabulous five star facility that is no stranger to hosting major international events, having recently welcomed a Middle East Peace Summit between Egypt, Israel and Palestine.
On a sporting front, the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel staged the first international professional golf tournament in Egypt’s history last season when the European Challenge Tour visited Sharm El Sheikh for the first time.
Now, in 2005, the Seniors Tour – with the invaluable support of promoters WSM Sport, who are organising this week’s DGM Barbados Open – will continue The European Tour’s pioneering association with golf in Egypt at the Jolie Ville Sharm El Sheikh Seniors Open.
Nick Addecott, Group Director of WSM, said: “I am confident that the Jolie Ville Sharm El Sheikh Seniors Open will become a well supported and extremely enjoyable event in the Seniors Tour calendar. The course is in great condition at the moment and everyone is geared up for another exciting week on the European Seniors Tour. This tournament provides Jolie Ville with an ideal opportunity to showcase its golf and holiday offering to a global audience.”
Mr Hussein Salem, Chairman and CEO of HKS Group, owners of the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel, said: “We are delighted to welcome the European Seniors Tour to the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, following on from the success of the Challenge Tour event last year. Jolie Ville is a fantastic resort in a beautiful setting and we are confident that the Seniors Tour players who are coming will have a wonderful time and enjoy our world class golf course and facilities.”
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Seniors Tour, said: “The reputation of the Jolie Ville Golf Hotel as a five star venue of the highest quality is impeccable, and we are delighted to have secured a venue of such stature for the Jolie Ville Sharm El Sheikh Seniors Open. We very much look forward to the European Seniors Tour’s first tournament in Egypt.”
The Jolie Ville Sharm El Sheikh Seniors Open is the 20th event to be announced on the 2005 Seniors Tour Schedule and will follow the DGM Barbados Open and the Tobago Plantations Seniors Classic as the third tournament of the season.
