England’s Derrick Cooper fired a new record for the newly-lengthened Balgownie Links in round three of The Senior British Open Championship, presented by Aberdeen Asset Management.

The 50 year old from Warrington, who is a Tournament Director on the European Seniors Tour, fired a bogey-free 64 to haul himself back in contention at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club.

Cooper had five consecutive birdies around the turn and is four over for the Championship with a three-round total of 217.

A little earlier in the day, American David Oakley and South Africa's John Bland shot 65s.
