Variety Club Bus donated to Bedfordshire school (EuropeanTour)

Pupils of Ridgeway School have been presented with a brand new Variety Club bus courtesy of Travis Perkins on the eve of the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters at Woburn Golf Club.
Former England Cricket Captain Mike Gatting handed over the keys to a delighted head teacher, Graham Allard, who was accompanied by three pupils from the school for children with physical disabilities.
He said: “We had a similar vehicle that was over nine years old and really no longer fit for purpose so it was great to get this new bus.
“We use them for all kinds of things from curriculum based trips to local colleges to trips to the bowling alley or cinema.”
The timing was perfect for all parties involved, with Travis Perkins title sponsoring this week’s Senior Tour event at Woburn and the school being based just down the road.
Even though they were very busy with the first day back after the summer holidays Mr Allard said it was a pleasure to make time for the presentation and couldn’t wait to get the bus back to school.
He said: “We’re very busy today with all the kids coming back but they have already been on the bus and are having a great time.
“It’s very similar to the other buses we have but the kids have been really excited, taking in the new smell and jumping around inside.”
The Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters takes place over the Duke’s Course at Woburn from Friday September 3 to Sunday September 5. Tickets are available on the gate with £20 for a season pass or £10 per day.
