Carl Mason stormed into a three shot lead as the last group reached the turn in the final round of the Benahavis Senior Masters, carding for a three under par front nine to overtake overnight leader Gary Wolstenholme.
Mason looked set to extend his record of European Senior Tour wins to 25 after Gary Wolstenholme double-bogeyed the par three eighth hole to surrender the lead that he held after both the first and second rounds and drop four shots off the pace.
Two birdies at the second and third before another at the ninth meant Mason reached the turn in 32, three under for the day and ten under for the tournament, three shots ahead of Mark James.
James birdied the fourth and sixth holes on the way to a one under par front nine of 34 as he searches for his first Senior Tour win of the season.
Bob Cameron, Ross Drummond and Andrew Sherborne were all tied for fourth and six shots off the lead on four under.
