With a host of former Ryder Cup players set to get their title challenge underway at the European Tour Destinations Senior Classic from July 12-14, we take a look at three players to keep an eye on at PGA Catalunya Resort.

Paul McGinley

The Irishman comes into the tournament after a hugely successful week hosting the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

The 2014 winning Ryder Cup captain is still in pursuit of his first Staysure Tour title, but with six top-ten finishes to his name since he joined the circuit in 2017, it is surely a matter of time before he secures his first victory.

McGinley, who has captured four European Tour titles throughout the course of his career, has plenty of experience at the Spanish venue, hosting a tournament at the European Tour Destination in 2015 to help raise funds for the Special Olympics.

Jean-François Remesy

Remesy may well be the man to watch in Spain this week.

The Frenchman comes into the tournament off the back of second place finish at the Swiss Seniors Open, where he narrowly missed out on securing his second Staysure Tour title in under a month, following his victory at the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship at Trevose Golf Club in June.

One of only 11 players in history to win on the European Challenge Tour, European Tour and Staysure Tour, the 55-year-old currently sits fourth in the Staysure Tour Rankings, with a further top-three result to his name this season at the Senior Italian Open.

Expect Remesy to put in another strong performance at PGA Catalunya Resort this week.

Peter Baker

Peter Baker is no stranger to PGA Catalunya Resort, finishing in a tie for third when the Open de España was first staged at the venue back in 2000.

He will make his return to the Stadium Course full of confidence having finished alongside Jean-François Remesy in a tie for second at the Swiss Senior Open last week.

It’s the latest impressive result for the Englishman, who claimed his first Staysure Tour title at the Senior Open Hauts de France by Jean van de Velde in June.

The former Ryder Cup player currently sits fifth on the Staysure Tour Rankings and will be looking to continue his move up the rankings with a strong finish this week.
