These events will precede the Challenge Tour Grand Final which will close a season which was shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rafael Hernández Alcalá, Manager of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri opened a media conference in Spain on Tuesday November 20. He said: "I would like to thank all the organizers and partners involved for counting on Iberostar for these key events for the destination: Chiclana City Council, Cadiz Tourist Board, Cadiz Sports Board, Royal Andalusian Golf Federation and JGolf.

“Events like these are crucial for the recovery of the sector and the destination. Iberostar has a firm commitment with Chiclana, where we have been present for more than 20 years, and we want to be an active part of the recovery of both. We believe that it is key for this to have differential values such as sport, Andalusian culture, landscape and our commitment to the environment and a model of responsible tourism.

“Being able to be the home of these events is a perfect gift for the 30th anniversary of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri and to highlight its different values. Its design and unique location overlooking La Barrosa Beach, a jewel of sustainability, awarded as one of the best examples of ecological balance in Spain, make it an ideal place.

“We are very satisfied and, above all, ready because Iberostar has worked to ensure that all its spaces are safe thanks to the implementation of How We Care, which includes more than 300 measures that guarantee a safe environment, hygiene standards, social space and innovative experience. The effort has been rewarded with customer satisfaction, which translates into 88 per cent positive ratings on the implementation of measures in the rooms and 84 per cent in the restaurants and buffets.

“These measures are proving to be very effective and participants will be able to see for themselves both during the game and during their rest time at the emblematic Iberostar Royal Andalus.”

Pablo Mansilla, President of the Real Federacion Andaluza de Golf and also on behalf of the Real Federacion Española de Golf highlighted the importance of golf in Andalusia: "It has been a very tough season in all aspects but, with great effort, we have shown that golf is a safe sport. Andalusia, Cadiz and Chiclana is a safe place to play golf tournaments, golf is the safest activity that can be practiced today. Here we have hosted a tournament of the European Tour, the Alps Tour, this week a women's LET Access and Santander Tour, in November two tournaments on the Challenge Tour and the final of the LET.

“We have bet strongly on golf, guaranteeing all the security measures and the success of all the competitions. It is clear that golf in Andalusia is and will be a success, and that we have managed to place our community at the center of world golf.”

Miguel Rodriguez, Territorial Delegate of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration of the Junta de Andalucía in Cadiz added: “We are delighted to sponsor these tournaments together. Golf is one of the signs of identity of this province and one of the main motors of tourism.

“The Junta de Andalucía is going to support and continue supporting these initiatives because it is a way of taking Andalusia abroad, to other countries to say that we are a preferential destination, a destination for safe tourism, for doing sport safely. I take this opportunity to congratulate the private sector.”

The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román Guerrero, ended the ceremony by thanking the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, the Andalusian Government, the Provincial Council and the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri.

He said: “I am grateful for their commitment to having us here today to present these championships in a period of the year that is fundamental, after a summer that we have had at full capacity within the circumstances.

"Besides, we are in a municipality like Chiclana, which today is news for being one of the big cities of the province with less positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 63.9 cases, which allows us to transfer the security of the destination to the 300 million potential viewers that we are going to have through television

“In the province of Cadiz we have 22 golf courses, of which five are here in Chiclana, so from the Provincial Council we rely on golf to attract tourists throughout the year, especially in low season.”

The Andalucía Challenge de España will be held from November 5-8, and the Andalucía Challenge de Cádiz from November 11-14. The tournaments will be played thanks to the sponsorship of the Real Federacion Española de Golf y Real Federacion Andaluza de Golf, and the invaluable collaboration as co-sponsors of the Junta de Andalucía, la Diputación de Cádiz, Patronato Provincial de Turismo de Cádiz, Ayuntamiento de Chiclana, Consejo Superior de Deportes, Loterías del Estado, EDP Solar, Allianz, AON, Halcón Viajes, Kyocera, Iberostar, Bodegas Barbadillo, Agua en Caja Mejor and JGolf.
