Ahead of the action teeing off at Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil, we take a look at three players who will be hoping to be in contention at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.
Robin Roussel
The Frenchman became the first home grown winner of the 2019 European Challenge Tour season when he clinched his debut title at the Hauts de France - Pas de Calais Golf Open last month. Roussel recorded three consecutive top ten results in his opening three Challenge Tour events before clinching victory at the sixth time of asking.
Last week, the 25-year-old was back to his best, recording rounds of 67-71-72-65 to finish in a share of fifth place for his fifth top ten of the season and currently sits in fourth position in the Rankings. Expect another title challenge from him when he tees it up on home soil this week.
Rasmus Højgaard
The Danish teenager is already making a name for himself on the Challenge Tour, after he claimed his fifth top ten result in only his eighth appearance last week. Højgaard turned 18 in March and has been knocking on the door of the winner’s circle several times, including when he finished in a share of second place at the Challenge de España – his first Challenge Tour appearance.
A stunning final round of 63 – the low round of the week – in Italy saw him finish inside the top ten for the fourth time this year, before he followed that up by finishing tied tenth last week in Slovakia. Having missed the cut only once this year at the Hauts de France - Pas de Calais Golf Open last month, Højgaard will be aiming to make amends on French soil this week and continue his hot run of form.
Dale Whitnell
Returning to the Challenge Tour following a seven-year absence, Whitnell nearly produced the goods to clinch his first victory on the circuit, finishing tied third at the D+D REAL Slovakia Challenge last week. The Englishman recorded a final round of 66, six under par, to shoot up the leaderboard and end the tournament three strokes behind winner Rhys Enoch.
The former Walker Cup player will be looking to continue his weekend form, shooting 11 under par in Slovakia, when he tees it up this week in France.
