Adrien Saddier toasted his return to top form following a recent illness after firing a second-round 64 to sit in a strong position at the halfway stage of the 2025 Italian Open.
The Frenchman began the tournament with a 69 on Thursday before carding seven birdies and a solitary bogey on day two to move to seven under par.
Friday's 64 was early starter Saddier's lowest round of the season so far.
The 33-year-old, who was unwell at the start of the European Swing, is delighted to be back to his best.
He said: "I'm happy to be back in full form. I was sick in May at the start of the European Swing, so it was a hard start for me.
"I feel fully recovered and good with my game. I'll just try to play well again and get some good results.
"It was a good day. I was second out this morning, so it was a bit fresh, it was nice.
"The greens were a bit softer than yesterday afternoon, making it easier to get closer to the hole. I had some good opportunities across the course and had quite a good putting day, so I’m happy about that.
"It's pretty nice (being in this position), I don’t play well in the heat, because I’m from the mountains. I prefer the cold. It’s nice to have a full afternoon of rest and I’ll get ready for tomorrow."
