Thomas Björn wants to show in this week's BMW Italian Open that his fabulous finish in Girona on Sunday was just the start of something big.
The former Ryder Cup star had an eagle and four birdies in his last eight holes to charge into third place at the Open de España - and he has not done better than that since he won the Irish Open three years ago.
"It gives you a lot of confidence playing a back nine like that," commented Björn. "I would not say I am back, but it's what I wanted to make me believe I can play the golf I know I am still capable of.
"It's a very tiny step, but it's certainly a step in the right direction."
Just as people wonder what becoming Ryder Cup Captain might do to Colin Montgomerie's game, so there were those who thought that Björn's career might be affected by becoming chairman of the players' committee.
After much deliberation he agreed two years ago to take on the role, but just 36 at the time and with a burning desire to play more Ryder Cups it was a big decision.
Not helped by some injuries, his Order of Merit position last season plunged from 44th - itself his worst in 12 years on Tour - to 101st.
His world ranking suffered too, of course, and a conversation with his mental coach brought it home to him that there was no future living in the past.
"He said I had to accept that I was nearly 300th in the world. I would not say I was guilty of living in the past, but when I hit a few good shots I was probably guilty of wanting too much too soon.
"Hopefully I can continue this. I've got the desire and as long as you have that you've always got the belief that you can turn things round.
"If I thought it was over I would not be out here. I would not carry on."
