Cazoo Classic - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from day three at Hillside Golf Club.

Julien Guerrier

Julien bounced back from a poor start on the third day of the 2022 Cazoo Classic to lead the way.

Here is everything you need to know from day two at Hillside Golf Club.

Happy return for Guerrier as he claims the lead

Julien Guerrier was back at the same Hillside course where he shone as an amateur 17 years ago. The 2006 amateur champion, who claimed a one-shot lead going into day four, said of Hillside: "I like the design, I love the course here. I love it because you have to think on every shot. It is all about strategy."

Sullivan doubling up to get it done on Moving Day

Andy Sullivan's penchant for landing birdies in pairs saw him rise up the leaderboard. The 36-year-old started the day on level par but was soon racking up birdies at the double. Birdies at two and three, then five and six were followed by another gained shot on nine. Sullivan then broke the habit as he birdied three in a row from 11 to 13 to lie on eight under. But a bogey on the par-three 16th dropped him back.

Eagle gives Björk momentum going into final day

Alexander Björk landed an eagle on the 11th as the Swede played his way into contention. The 32-year-old also had birdies at three, six, nine, 12, 13 and 17 for a round of 64 to go into Sunday on 10 under.

New coach paying dividends for Välimäki

Sami Välimäki feels he is reaping the rewards of a recent change of coach. The 24-year-old Finn finished fourth at the BMW International Open and then recorded top-30 finishes in the Horizon Irish Open and Genesis Scottish Open. Välimäki admitted: "Too many bad shots. I was trying really hard, almost like too hard. The results have been really good so I'm happy to keep going. I feel it was the right time to change."
