European Tour Members Brian Davis of England and Rob Rashell of America are tied for second, two ahead of a third Member, Greg Owen of England, after four rounds of the US PGA Tour Qualifying School and remain well on course for a card for next season’’s US PGA Tour.
Rashell shot a 67 and Davis had a 69, both on the PGA West Stadium Course at La Quinta, California, to trail leader Jeff Brehaut, who lies on 16 under par 272 by one.
Owen, who missed three months of the season after a back operation, shot a 69 to lie on 275, 13 under par. Ryder cup player Phillip Price of Wales is also in the frame in joint seventh place after a fourth round 72.
"I played well," said Rashell, one of only two Americans with full Membership of The European Tour. "I just kind of set a game plan up for a course like the Stadium. Pick your lines and hit your shots and I made a few putts there which always helps and just try to be patient as you can."
Davis, twice a winner on The European Tour International Schedule, was also satisfied with his overall performance on Saturday.
"I got off to a great start which helps," Davis said. "I had a little lapse in concentration on the last hole, but overall I'm pleased with my position right now. But you never know, I may have to start firing at the flags on Monday."
The top 30 and ties and will receive 2005 PGA TOUR cards.
