European Tour Member Luke Donald narrowly missed out on capturing a third US PGA Tour title at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship.
The 29 year old, who led the tournament going into the final round, carded a final round of two under par 68 to move to 12 under for the week, only to be out done by Scott Verplank of the USA by a single shot at the TPC Four Seasons Resort.
“I will look at the positive, but right now I'm very disappointed,” said Donald. “I came here to win today. I've had a couple good chances this year. It's not much fun finishing second, to be honest. I much prefer the feeling of being the champion.
“But I'm encouraged about my game for the next couple weeks, and hopefully that will continue.”
Donald’s fellow countryman, and fellow European Tour Member, Ian Poulter, finished in a tie for third place on ten under par.
