Australia`s David Gleeson carded a bogey free seven under par 64 to take the first-round lead at the Macau Open on Thursday.
The European Tour Member fired seven birdies to take a one stroke lead from Chinese Taipei duo Lin Wen-hong and Lin Wen-tang and Thai pair Udorn Duangdecha and Wisut Artjanawat, who were tied on six under after rounds of 65.
Five were tied on five under and ten more were within three shots of the lead on four under at Macau Golf and Country Club.
Gleeson began his round on the back nine with six straight pars before birdies on holes 16 and 18.
The 30 year old then blitzed the front nine with four straight birdies from holes one to four and another on the seventh.
The 2002 Volvo China Open winner said: “I kept my rhythm going throughout the day and fired seven birdies without dropping a single shot which was nice.
“It was a good start for me. I didn`t make the putts but I stayed patient out there which was the key.”
