Henrik Stenson Wins the WGC-Accenture Match Play to Reach World Number Five

Henrik Stenson became the first Swede, and only the second European, to win a World Golf Championships event as he defeated defending champion Geoff Ogilvy in the final of the WGC - Accenture Match Play at the Gallery Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona. He reaches the highest World Ranking ever for a Swedish player as he jumps three places to World Number five, bettering the 7th position achieved by Jesper Parnevik on May 14th 2000.

Fred Funk won the Mayakoba Golf Classic on the second hole of a playoff with Jose Coceres to become only the second man to win a PGA TOUR event after winning on the Champions Tour. The 2005 Players Champion moves up to World Number 69, a rise of 29 places.

This week's other winners were Nicholas Thompson at the HSBC NZ PGA Championship and Louis Oosthuizen at the Telkom PGA Championship.
