Thongchai Jaidee moved into a share of the lead at the BMW Masters with a brilliant front nine of 31 getting him level with Lucas Bjerregaard midway through the third round in Shanghai.
The Thai had started the day three shots behind Bjerregaard but five birdies moved him into the lead before the Dane made a second gain of the day on the ninth to join him at 14 under.
Sergio Garcia was then three shots back after two birdies on his front nine, ahead of a group of seven players at 10 under.
Thomas Pieters was the big early mover as the two-time winner this season opened with four straight birdies and then made another gain on the seventh to turn in 31 and get to seven under.
That was still five back of Bjerregaard's overnight lead and the 24 year old rolled in a 15-footer on the second to get to 13 under but Jaidee kept the lead at three shots as he followed him in.
Byeong-hun An also moved to 10 under with birdies on the first and third as Victor Dubuisson made two early gains to get five off the lead alongside Ross Fisher who birdied the second.
Jaidee made it back-to-back birdies on the third and when he put his tee shot on the fourth to five feet, the lead was down to one.
Garcia had parred his first four holes but a 25-foot putt on the fifth got him to 10 under alongside Dubuisson who continued to make good progress with gains on the sixth and seventh.
Jaidee had parred the tricky fifth but put his tee shot on the sixth to within a foot and tapped in to share the lead at 13 under as players began to bunch behind with Fisher, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey all picking up a shot on the seventh to get to nine under.
Henrik Stenson turned in 33 and he too got to nine under with another birdie on the tenth before Dubuisson three-putted the eighth to fall into that group.
A bogey on the tenth had stalled Pieters' momentum but birdies on the 11th, 12th and 15th saw him get to within four shots of the lead where he was joined by Patrick Reed with back-to-back birdies on the tenth and 11th.
Stenson, Pieters, Dubuisson and Casey all made further birdies to get to 10 under but Jaidee was still the man setting the pace and his fifth gain of the day on the eighth moved him out in front on his own.
Reed made it three in a row to join the ever-increasing group at 10 under and he was joined by Kristoffer Broberg who picked up five shots in as many holes from the seventh.
Garcia birdied the ninth to move out of that large collection of players and Bjerregaard then followed him in to get back on top of the leaderboard.
Julien Quesne and Justin Rose were then a further shot back with Fisher, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Martin Kaymer and Francesco Molinari eight under.
