Jimenez to star in the Madrid Masters

Miguel Ángel Jiménez, currently number four on the Order of Merit, will take part at the Madrid Masters from October 9th to 12th at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, an event sponsored by Turismo de Madrid and Caja Madrid.

Jiménez will be one of the favourites to the Spanish fans, he has won two events this year –Hong Kong Open and BMW PGA Championship- and has achieved two Top 10 at the Majors: eight at the Masters Tournament and sixth at the US Open.

Jiménez, a close friend of the organiser –Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño-, will top a very good field which includes: Argentinian Ángel Cabrera, the US Open champion in 2007; Graeme McDowell, Oliver Wilson, Stephen Dodd, Paul Lawrie, Jeev Milkha Singh, Martin Kaymer, Thomas Björn, Ariel Cañete… And the Spanish players: Pablo Larrazábal, Pablo Martín, Ignacio Garrido, José Manuel Lara, Álvaro Quirós…

Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, President of GFC Golf & Business, winner of three titles in the European Tour: “I think the field of the Madrid Masters is a very good one. We will make the players feel at home, that’s one of my main goals. We are all going through difficult times, my colleagues are aware of the situation and, although the purse is not the biggest, the atmosphere will be first class and a very memorable one. But we also want to make it a very special and different event for the Madrid fans, therefore, the spectators will not only enjoy watching the players but all sort of activities in the Madrid Golf Town”.
