Lawrie picks up the keys to his brand new Audi

Paul Lawrie expressed his delight upon receiving the keys to his brand new Audi A5 Cabriolet – his prize for a hole in one on the par three 17th hole at County Louth Golf Club during The 3 Irish Open.

The 1999 Open Champion fired a perfect six iron straight at the flag, his ball taking one soft bounce before rolling straight into the middle of the cup.

Lawrie received the keys to his brand new Audi A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI 1 80 Multitronic with 17” alloy wheels and Milano Leather upholstery from John Hayes, Deputy Director of Audi Ireland.

“When we got to 17, it was playing 196 yards, a little downhill, a little downwind off the left, and I hit a beautiful shot.  As soon as I hit it, it was straight down the pin.  You've obviously always got to get a little lucky for it to go in, but it was a nice shot.

“And a beautiful prize, a gleaming, silver Audi.  I think I've had five holes in one on Tour, and this is the first time I have ever won anything for a hole in one – it made a good day on the golf course even better.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank John and everyone at Audi for their generosity in putting up such a beautiful car as the hole in one prize – I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun driving it.”
