Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy was in fine form both off the tee and with his irons as he came close to landing his maiden European Tour title in the UBS Hong Kong Open.
McIlroy lost out to Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang on the second extra hole and a quick glance at the Genworth Financial Statistics for the tournament show the teenager was second in the Driving Distance category, with an average distance of 311.6 yards off the tee. He made 80.6 per cent of Greens in Regulation, finishing third in that category.
Italy’s Francesco Molinari, who also made it into the play-off, was on song with his putter, finishing second in the Putts Per Green in Regulation category, with 1.660 putts per hole, and third in the Putts Per Round category with an average of 28.2.
