Miracle Eagle Lands Pilkadaris a Place at The Open

European Tour Member Terry Pilkadaris of Australia secured one of the four available places at The 2007 Open Championship International Final Qualifier – Africa, joining the South African pair of Desvonde Botes and Doug McGuigan as well as Brazil’s Adilson da Silva in winning a place at Carnoustie this summer.

Pilkadaris finished the two round qualifying event, at the West Course of the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, alongside Botes on nine under par 135 – one stroke behind McGuigan and da Silva, who both carded rounds of 66-68 to win £1,750 each for sharing first place.

Pilkadaris looked unlikey to join them at Carnoustie, but a wonderful finish to his round, where he birdied the 14th and 15th before sinking a miraculous eagle putt on the par five 18th, ensured him a place in the field of golf’s most hallowed strokeplay event.
