Padraig Harrington Wins The Honda Classic To Move Up to World Number Six

Padraig Harrington began the final round of the Honda Classic in a tie for 21st place but after 13 holes of his final round he had recorded 10 birdies and held a two stroke lead. He eventually returned a 9-under-par 63 for a total of 14 under par which was later equalled by Vijay Singh, who had a final round of 64, and Joe Ogilvie. An up-and-down for par on the second play-off hole secured the title for Harrington who climbs up to sixth in the Official World Golf Ranking and is Europe’’s highest ranked player.

Ernie Els completed back-to-back wins on the European Tour, the first man to do so since Vijay Singh in 2001, with a final round of 65 to take the Qatar Masters Title by a single stroke from Swede Henrik Stenson who closed with 3 birdies in his final 4 holes. Els remains World Number 3 and Stenson is now World Number 80.

Argentina’’s Daniel Vancsik won the Tusker Kenya Open on the European Challenge Tour with a stunning seven-under-par final round 63. Vancsik climbs 149 places to World Number 451.
