Singh Captures Fourth Title with Buick Open Victory

Fijis Vijay Singh held off the challenge of fellow European Tour Member John Daly of America and World Number One Tiger Woods to win the Buick Open and his fourth US PGA Tour title of the year.

A closing 67, five under par, took Singh, the World Number Three, to 23 under par 265, a stroke ahead of Daly who closed with a 66 and two clear of Woods and Paraguay’’s Carlos Franco, both also shooting 66 at Warwick Hills Country Club.

Singh, who also lifted the Buick Open trophy in 1997, became only the third multiple winner of the event, joining Julius Boros (1963 and 1967) and Tony Lema (1964-65).

"Those guys are legendary," Singh said. "If that's a club, I'm really happy to be in that club."

Entering the tournament, Singh had ten top-ten finishes this year. But since winning consecutive tournaments three months ago, he has just two top-five finishes and was tied for 28th at the US Open Championship and 20th at the 133rd Open Golf Championship.
